The June Challenges were:
Challenge 1: Patterned Die Cuts
Challenge 2: Transportation Challenge
Challenge 3: One Side or The Other
My layout for the hop is based on Challenge #1 for this month: Patterned Die Cuts. The challenge was to use only patterned paper to make a layered die cut. Here is my layout:
My layered die cut is the anchor tag on the right. I began with a piece of distressed cream paper from one of the Basic Grey 6x6 paper pads I included in my kit and used a jumbo tag punch to make the tag shape. I used a heart punch to make a supply of hearts from another one of the sheets from the same pad. To help the hearts stand out more from the background, I ran a gold marker around the edge of each heart, and then did the same to the tag. I arranged the hearts in the shape of an anchor and then adhered them to the tag.
I matted my photo with another sheet from the paper pad (also edged with the gold pen), loosely folded two strips of gold dot vellum, and slipped them behind the sides of the photo.
Before I attached everything to the page, I printed my journaling on the background paper. I tested it first on a piece of scrap paper to make sure I liked the placement. I wanted the quote to almost blend into the background so I kept the font small.
Once the quote was on the page, I added the vellum and photo. I attached a length of gold metallic thread to the tag and a messy circle of thread to the top left of the photo for a little more interest. As a final touch, I included a couple of the leftover hearts and two thin strips of the vellum at the top right and bottom left of the page.
Thanks so much for stopping by! You can now visit Cindy and see her fun contribution to the hop. If you’d like to start at the beginning, you can visit the CKC blog. Here’s a full list of the participants in case you lose your place along the way:
