CKC June Mini Kit Reveal and Project

Hello everyone! It's time for another mini kit reveal for the Counterfeit Kit Challenge blog.

As you probably already know, we are using the May 2018 Hip Kit Club kits as our inspiration this month. I was really drawn to one particular paper in the scrapbook kit - it's the multi-color scallop paper shown in the center and I think it was designed exclusively for the kit:

The scallop paper reminded me of a vellum 8x8 paper I have from Pretty Little Studio so I pulled out that paper and decided to build my mini kit around it.

As you can see, this is a very petite kit; as I was searching my supplies, I got an idea for a layout and decided to just pull enough to make that page.  Here's what I included:  a 12x12 white woodgrain cardstock, the scallop vellum from Pretty Little Studio, a green & white polka dot and a gray floral (both from my scrap box), a 3x4 pocket card from Pretty Little Studio along with the packaging from a set of journaling cards, a few labels and a sheet of word/phrase stickers from Pretty Little Studio, an alpha stamp set from Kellie Stamps, a sheet of labels and a partially used sheet of puffy hearts from Elle's Studio.

I ended up using a little bit of everything on my layout:

I fussy-cut
several rows of scallops from the vellum and stitched them into place on the page.

I used the scraps and packaging as mats for my photos, arranged them along with the journaling card in a horizontal line across the white cardstock, and then tucked some labels underneath.  I stamped the initial of the location of each photo onto a scallop and stapled them on using my tiny attacher.

Some puffy hearts and phrase stickers were the finishing touch.

Please stop by the CKC blog today to see Laura's kit and project - I'm sure she has something amazing to share as usual!

If you play along with us this month, please add a link to your project on the CKC blog here.  You can also share on Instagram - we're @counterfeitkitchallenge there and you can use #counterfeitkitchallenge and #ckcjune2018 to tag your posts.  We also have a Facebook community and we'd love to see you sharing there as well - we're the Counterfeit Kit Community.

  2. Susan! This is wonderful.Every time my lilacs bloom I think of you and smile. I was thrilled to see this was you page for this kit. We sort of skipped spring and my lilac bush was sad this year. That is the wonderful thing about nature. She will sing again... and the lilacs will return. Love your kit.

    1. Thank you so much, sweet friend! I was just talking with my mom about how some flowers change their blooming patterns from year to year. My lilacs were the best they've ever been this season and I was so happy to get to experience more of them on our little getaway this spring.

    1. Thanks, Julene - it's a fun and easy technique, especially because I like fussy-cutting. Hope you give it a try!

  4. A typically lovely page. I love the design and you know how much I love fussy cutting so this particularly appeals. The layering is soft and subtle but oh so effective!
